Our Story
What We’re All About
With our progressive and natural environment learning model and early childhood education philosophy, we understand that each child has unique needs and interests. We provide the environment and early intervention services your child needs to thrive to the best of their abilities. When we expose children to stable learning environments, we allow them to explore their self-awareness and gain a sense of the world around them. Agape Academy strives to advance the skills of children with autism and related neurological conditions and give them a positive learning experience.
Our Educational Programs
The educational programs at Agape Academy for Autism and Neurodiversity were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Take a look below to learn more about each program.
Agape Academy for Autism and Neurodiversity was built upon a passion for helping children and families with autism. Evidence based teaching is always used. Staff is trained in the required methods for each individual child. Respect for the child and family is an important component in providing the most positive and impactful experience. By educating staff we hope to prevent parents and children from harsh experiences due to the child's special needs and behaviors. Agape Academy for Autism and Neurodiversity strives for excellence for the children and their families.

Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)
Based on the most accepted methods for autistic support this model teaches daily living skills in a natural environment. This program promotes the skills needed for family life, school, and community engagement. ESDM is a true school to home and home to school connection. The program includes training for parents. The mission for Agape Academy is to work in partnership with parents to accomplish the best outcome for their child.
Social Skills Saturday
Social Skills Saturday is all fun and games. Demands are low but the natural environment behavioral plans are still followed. Through fun child-preferred activities, we familiarize basic interaction skills like greeting, eye contact, sharing, taking turns, following directions, expressing emotions appropriately, identifying others' emotions, and simple conflict resolution strategies. Social Skills Saturday is positive reinforcement strong with trained staff leading all activities.

Saturday Swimming Lessons

In addition to regular care and therapy services, adapted group or individual swimming lessons are available on Saturdays. Specially certified swim instructors under the supervision of the Director teach water safety, water acclimation, floating, treading, kicking, strokes, jumping, diving, and water play.

Social Skills and Swimming
A -Team at the YMCA
The A-Team, in partnership with the AllOne Foundation, is dedicated to providing a fun and inclusive swim environment for autistic youth and adults, along with their caregivers. This activity is designed to foster a culture of inclusion, ensuring that the social benefits extend to families as well. Each month, the Greater Pittston YMCA and the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA hosts a two-hour party filled with swimming, delicious food, and exciting activities.
SIBLING SUPPORT "SIB SHOPS"

Sibshops are lively places where the brothers and sisters of special needs children will:

1) Meet other sibs with similar experiences

2) have fun

3) talk about the good and bad parts of having a sib with support needs

4) play some great games

5) explore how other siblings handle sticky situations

6) learn about the services theirbrothers and sisters receive.
The Sibshop curriculum is used throughout the United States and Canada and Europe.
